Hair Bucket List

So, it’s obviously no secret that I’ve done a lot with my hair… Long, short, extensions, red, blonde, etc. There are still things I still want to tackle. I put these next couple of looks on my “hair bucket list”! Haha

40 and Fabulous!

Remember when you were in your 20s and could (and did) wear any hairstyle you wanted? Bleached white-blonde, side ponytails, and maybe even The Rachel? That doesn’t really fly in your 40s, does it?

Hairstyles for women over 40 are a little more limited. If you stretch outside those boundaries you could wind up looking like an old maid — or someone desperately clinging to her teen years.  But that doesn’t mean your only options are a mom bob or cropped, Kate Gosselin cut.  Yikes!   There are plenty of hairstyles for mature women that are short, long, and everything in between. You just have to know how to follow some rules.

Don’t go for an ashy color!  Ashy hair color has cooler undertones, which can look almost gray — especially when you’re actually old enough to have gray hair. haha  Here are some warm hair colors on women in and past their 40’s…

It’s Raining MEN! Hallelujah!

Let’s talk about men!  Men, men and more men.  Never a bad topic in my opinion.  How does your man get ready in the morning?  Does he shower and run out the front door like mine?  NOT!!!  I married one who is more high maintenance than me!  First he showers, then he shaves, then he does his hair, blah, blah, blah.  40 minutes later he’s finally ready for the day.

Just styling his hair is what really gets me.  I think most men would towel dry and call it good, or just throw in a little product.  Not my man.  He puts in some stuff for thickening, then he drys it and puts in another product for texture…and THEN he grabs his hairspray and plasters that puppy right down!  He checks himself out numerous times and sprays it yet again.

It’s okay with me though, cause he looks good 🙂  Just quit taking up all the bathroom space and get outta my mirror!

Here is his product shelf…

I rest my case.  By the way, if anyone happens to see him today, do me a favor…don’t tell him I blogged about him.  Thanks! haha

Getting Better with Age

Ever notice a celebrity who seems to never age?  Do we hate them even more if they look better as they get older?  I know I do! haha  Why is that?  How are they possibly looking even better as the digits rise?  There are plenty of things these women have added to their beauty regimen- hair extensions, anti aging face creams, botox, hair color and a paid stylist to help you in the right direction is never a bad thing.  The beauty industry is constantly changing and evolving and these celebrities are never ones to fall behind when in the spotlight!  Here are just a few pics of some people who have gotten better looking with age…

Beyonce, you have definitely softened that harsh Destiny’s Child-girl look!  She rocks softer colored and textured hair and learned to dress to flatter her curvy body!  She’s constantly in the media so why would she even let herself fall behind!

Nicole Ritchie.  Everyone knows her, Lionel Ritchie’s naughty, potty-mouthed daughter who once was BFF’s with Paris Hilton.  Good thing she dropped that Paris, otherwise she might have never changed her style!  She really started to class it up once she started designing clothing herself and had a couple of babies.

Helen Mirren, what a sexy, sophisticated women you have turned into!  She has aged with grace and gotten sexier everyday, this is what 67 should look like.

This just goes to show that a little up-keep on one’s body goes a long way when aging!  Not one of these women have ever given up on their bodies, their skin, hair or makeup as they aged!  Here’s to getting older…cheers!

Get Nailed!

Anyone out there use Pinterest?  Well, I sure do.  Love it, it’s soooo addicting.  If you haven’t checked out Pinterest, you definitely should, it’s super creative and fun.  If you are on Pinterest I’m sure you’ve seen tons of cool nail designs to try, right?  So cute!!!  I’m going to give one of them a try tonight and I’ll make sure to post my pics or comments on how it went.  Here are some of the cutest ones that caught my eye…

I really like this one alot!  It looks Autumn-like with the gold and burnt orange.

This one is cool too, I’m not sure why the matte polish stays matte though if it gets a shiney top coat over the whole nail?  Mystery.  Very interesting, though!

I love this one!  I looks so creative and feminine at the same time.  I think I’ll try something similar to this tonight!

Bold, yet interesting!

I really love this easy pattern cause it could be done with just about any polish combo!

Why I love these looks!

So 2012 has been a great year for hair.  You folks have asked for everything from the “modern Mrs. Brady” to the short adorable pixie that Michelle Williams busted out!  I’ve love some of the looks and REALLY love some of the others!  Here are a few of my ultimate faves…

Gweneth Paltrow, you embody sophisticated with this hair cut and color!  FAB!  I have alot of people bring in this look, and only a few of you are able to actually do it.  Not because you can’t pull it off, but because your hair is long enough and you don’t have BANGS!  Bangs are widely popular, but a pain ignore if your wanting this look.  The beauty of this is the fact that she has total strength through the very front and no bangs.  If you’re in need of the slightly shorter version, look no further than Jenny McCarthy…

…classic.  In no way can you ever go wrong here!

…What up SJP!  You’re looking mighty fine these days.  Could it be your blowout that you have done to help smooth your normally untamed locks?  I think so…  What I love about this look is how piecey her waves are.  A couple large barrel curls shaken out with some hairspray and you’re good to go!  Just to reference- this is what she looked like pre-blowout! haha….

…nice.  Thank god for smoothing treatments!

…this one draw quite a bit of attention from the women!  I think it’s because of the choppiness and the ultra swooped bangs.  I like the depth at the root along with the super blonde ends and highlights.  It keeps it fresh and lower maintenance!

Two great examples of the messy pixie that I’m so in love with!  Short hair isn’t what it used to be.  It was once looked upon as butchy or masculine, not anymore!  Today it shows confidence and allows women to experiment with color like never before!

Enjoy!
